Anna is a developer at a software solutions company.
I am vegan - I believe animals are friends not food.
I recently climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge to raise money for a local animal rescue.
My photography has been featured on the BBC weather programme.
I work in a small team to build software applications in an Agile environment - including new and existing products, new features and fixing bugs.
I have always liked being part of a team and working towards a common goal. I enjoy problem solving and I'm creative - I always have little projects on the go!
I studied web design at University and loved the code more than the designing, so I focused on that! When I graduated I looked for a junior role that would allow me to learn the skills to become a developer.
I have a friend at work who encourages me to challenge myself and improve my skills - I am currently studying for Microsoft exams.
I wish I had chosen my career path sooner – I only discovered I wanted to become a developer when I was at University. Whilst I was at college I wanted to be a photographer and whilst I was at school I wanted to be a teacher. I feel like I could be further along in my career now if I have chosen it sooner.
It can feel a little intimidating at times, being the only woman in the room. Also, working in software means you have to constantly work on your skills and stay up to date with the latest technology. Men often have their whole career ahead of them to do this, but it can be different for some women who want to have a family.
Have the confidence to go for it .
